About a Passion Project with tin can designs
October is known for its fun projects on social media. Some people try to quit a bad addict like smoking or drinking (also known as #stoptober), while others follow their creative needs and join the well-known #inktober with its daily prompts.
I decided to jump the bandwagon but instead, I created a personal October project that I called #TinCanTober.
It was October 2018 when I shared my first entry on Instagram. But even years after the challenge, I still occasionally make a new design, just for fun.
The image on the left featuring the tea tin with a matching cup design, is a so called 'mock-up' illustration. Everything on the image is imaginary, except for the bird-shaped planter. That one I made (for real) during pottery class. I photographed it so I could use it as a prop in the background of my image.
Sharing my love for (vintage) packinging.
Craving to share my love for vintage packaging, I originally started painting some of the older boxes from my private tin can collection. But after a few days, I noticed that it was actually a lot more fun to use my own imagination instead.
Long story short, I instantly changed my project goals and started inventing my own (quirky) imaginary product line of tin cans.
Dreaming of creating a product line of tin cans some day
My dream is that I will someday design a real tin can collection for either chocolate, candy, or tea, or whatever crosses my path. I've already had the pleasure of creating dish ware, so why not tin cans too, if I get the chance?

An extra note
I acknowledge that the illustrations of the containers may come across as a bit unconventional regarding their angle and perspective. They're a bit 'wonky' so to speak. This was a deliberate artistic choice, because I want my style to look a bit 'loose' as it's all hand-painted. However, when collaborating with companies and working with product template, know that I always aim for a more professional outcome, without losing the quirkiness of my style.
